No post de maquilhagem desta semana, aqui estou eu sem maquilhagem nenhuma. E com os lábios numa miséria (nem imaginam como ficaram no dia seguinte). Amanhã talvez apareça com uma maquilhagem discreta. Ou então com uma maquilhagem marcante. Se calhar até apareço pintada de palhaça. Vai depender do que me apetecer.
Penso que a maior parte de vocês já está a par da polémica do vídeo "You look disgusting", mas para quem não está, deixo o vídeo e passo a explicar: esta rapariga, a Em Ford, tem problemas de acne e ensina truques para disfarçar as borbulhas com maquilhagem, em vídeos que publica no Youtube.
O vídeo mostra comentários reais que a Em recebeu nas redes sociais após ter publicado fotografias suas sem maquilhagem. Crueldade pura, não há outra forma de descrever.
In this week's make up post, here am I, with absolutely no make up. And with my lips in a total mess (you can't imagine how they looked the day after). Maybe tomorrow I'll show up with a subtle make up. Or with a really heavy make up. Or maybe I'll show up with a clown's make up. It will depend on what I feel like that day.
I'm pretty sure that most of you already knows about the "You look disgusting" video controversy, but if you don't, here's the video and a little explanation: this girl, Em Ford, suffers from acne and she teaches how to disguise pimples with make up, on YouTube.
This video shows real comments that she got on social media, after publishing pictures of herself with no make up. Pure cruelty, there's no other way to describe it.
Simplesmente não me entra na cabeça como é que as pessoas conseguem ser tão más.
Se a Em (ou qualquer outra pessoa) quer mostrar o seu rosto ao mundo tal e qual como o tem, sem a obrigação de ter de usar uma base e um corretor todos os dias, deve fazê-lo!
Se a Em (ou qualquer outra pessoa) quer tapar as borbulhas que encara como imperfeições, de forma a sentir-se mais confiante, deve fazê-lo!
Se a Em (ou qualquer outra pessoa) acha que tem o rosto perfeito e mesmo assim quer usar maquilhagem, só porque sim, só porque gosta, deve fazê-lo!
O rosto é dela, a vida é dela e não vejo forma de estar a magoar ou prejudicar alguém com isso.
Mostrar ou disfarçar? Não há resposta certa, a escolha é de cada um.
Nem sequer estou a entrar pela discussão acerca de as "imperfeições" serem ou não motivo de orgulho, estou apenas a dizer que todos temos o direito de escolher se as queremos mostrar ou não. Todos temos o direito de escolher, em geral.
E não se justifique estes ataques com o argumento da liberdade de expressão. Ou com o argumento de que "ela se põe a jeito"; "expõe-se publicamente, portanto tem de estar preparada para ouvir/ler tudo".
Sempre me ensinaram que a nossa liberdade termina onde começa a liberdade dos outros. E acho que tudo na vida se resume a isto.
É um ser humano, com sentimentos, que está a ser alvo destes ataques. Pelo seu aspeto físico.
Não somos todos seres humanos? Pelo menos teoricamente.

I simply can't wrap my head around this kind of stinginess.
If Em (or anyone else) wants to show her face just how it is, without feeling the obligation of wearing foundation or concealer every single day, she should do it!
If Em (or anyone else) wants to cover the pimples that she sees as flaws, in order to feel more comfident, she should do it!
If Em (or anyone else) thinks that her face is perfect, but still wants to wear make up, just because, simply because she likes it, then she should do it!
It's her face, it's her life and I can't see a way of her hurting or damaging anyone with this.
Show it or disguise it? There's no right answer, it's up to each one of us.
I'm not even getting into the subject of "flaws" being a reason to be proud of or not. I'm just saying that everyone has the right to choose whether they want to show them or not. Everyone has the right to choose, in general.
And please, don't try to justify these attacks with the freedom of speech argument. Or the "she asked for it", "she puts herself out there, so she has to be prepared to read/listen all sorts of stuff" argument.
I have always been taught that our freedom ends where another person's freedom starts. And I think it all comes down to that.
It's a human being, with feelings, that has been targeted. Because of the way she looks.
Aren't we all humans? At least in theory.
